Global Opportunities
The Lucas College of Business links cutting edge business education with award winning international programs, preeminent global companies, and student organizations focused on global business to provide students with extensive opportunities.
In addition to faculty members providing a global perspective in a wide range of business concentrations, students have many options for developing their cross-cultural skillsets and global networks. Numerous programs, classes and organizations in our college help students enhance their global education and leverage connections with professionals in globally focused organizations.
We present a wide selection of globally oriented programs structured to empower global citizenship through international work with established companies, global dialogue, and travel. Our programs provide opportunities for students to:
- Network with international business professionals
- Participate in international internships
- Attend dedicated lectures on global leadership
- Create personal development plans to map out global business aspirations.
Organizations
International Business Association
The International Business Association at SJSU exists to support students on their journey toward global citizenship. We provide the connections, resources, networking opportunities, and mentorship necessary to help students create their own unique path toward a truly global career. We encourage travel, exploration, curiosity, and the insatiable need to learn. We pledge to never fear things that are foreign to us or different. We embrace change, delight in similarities, but relish the differences across cultures.
AIESEC
AIESEC is the world’s largest student run organization and is the international platform for young people to discover and develop their potential to have a positive impact on society. AIESEC is present in over 107 countries and territories, providing over 7,700 leadership positions and delivering over 470 conferences to our membership of over 35,000 students in over 1700 universities around the world. AIESEC also runs an exchange program that affords over 5,500 students and recent graduates the opportunity to live and work in abroad. We attract and cultivate young people with global mindsets while giving organizations an incredible opportunity to interact and access young people from all corners of the globe.

Programs
Thompson Global Internship Program
The Thompson Global Internship Program provides an extraordinary experience for LCoB students to live abroad while earning credit and completing a project for a renowned international organization, Crown Worldwide Group. Students work in teams with other similarly qualified students on a significant and meaningful project at Crown's headquarters in Hong Kong or at one of its other many global locations. Given the Crown Worldwide Group’s numerous sectors and extensive operations, students may work in a wide range of business functions and areas. Crown Worldwide Group generously funds student travel expenses, accommodations and provides a salary and per diem.
Study Abroad
SJSU offers a range of Study Abroad programs for a single semester or the academic year. Programs are available at over 250 universities in 55 different countries. Generally, you pay SJSU fees and take classes abroad, many of which will count towards your degree. The Lucas College provides scholarships to support semester and year long study abroad experiences (generally $500 to $2000). Start by working with the study abroad office. Once you are accepted into a program, you will receive an invitation to apply for a Lucas College study abroad scholarship.
Faculty-Led Programs
Faculty-Led Programs (FLP) are overseas courses taught by SJSU faculty from various academic fields for 2 - 4 weeks during the academic breaks of winter, spring, and summer. FLPs typically provide credits of 3 - 6 units. A majority of our programs satisfy upper division GE courses (Area R, S, & V) and major-specific courses. See the program list for a sampling of the exciting and educational FLP offerings. Many Lucas College students join programs headed up by non-business faculty but we also have several excellent programs offered by business faculty. The College provides scholarships for FLP student participants (generally $500). Start by working with the FLP office and faculty leaders. Once you are accepted into a program, you will receive an invitation to apply for a Lucas College study abroad scholarship.
