iSchool Students Find Community Through Social Movement Archives
From late November until mid-January, the San José State Martin Luther King Jr Library displayed a vital and provoking exhibit entitled “But Often it Rhymes: Suppression, Resistance, and Solidarity in San José”, curated by iSchool students Alena Karkanias (MLIS ‘17), Karl Grunwald (MARA ‘17) and Elise Mills (MLIS ‘17). The exhibit’s focus on student-led protest movements for liberation and against U.S. imperialism was particularly resonant amid escalating authoritarianism and nationalistic violence in countries around the world, including in the United States.
