Spring New Student Orientation

Spring New Student Orientation is a one-day session for incoming students entering in the Spring semester to become familiar with campus and connect with fellow incoming Spartans.

All students admitted to the Spring 2027 semester must attend one Orientation session, and participate for the entire duration of the program. 

Orientation is mandatory and attendance will be recorded. If you do not attend, or if you leave during any portion of the event, you will NOT be able to attend San Jose State that semester. To satisfy this requirement, you will only need to attend one orientation session.

 

Available Session Dates


The following Orientation sessions will be held in-person on the SJSU campus. Check-in is anticipated to begin by 7:30AM and the programming ending by 5PM.

Please note that all sessions may not be available to you on your Next Steps portal. The Orientation sessions available to each student will be based upon when their major will be offering academic advising. Additionally, sessions fill up on a first come, first serve basis so this may also affect general orientation session availability.

New Student and Family Programs will send you an orientation confirmation letter to your provided email address two weeks prior to your scheduled orientation date. 

You can view which orientation date you registered for in your Next Steps portal. In hopes to maintain an equitable registration process for all incoming SJSU students, we do not accommodate orientation session changes after the intent to enrollment deadline. We do make exceptions for extenuating emergencies that can be verified with proper documentation. If you have an emergency and can't attend Orientation, please contact us at transfer-orientation@sjsu.edu.

Before Attending Spring Orientation:

  1. Complete Spartan Link Online Orientation Module. New students will gain access to Spartan Link at least one month prior to the orientation sessions.
  2. Review your confirmation letter sent to your email two (2) weeks prior to your Spring New Student Orientation session.

Students attending Spring New Student Orientation who need disability-related accommodations should contact the Accessible Education Center (AEC) at aec-info@sjsu.edu as soon as possible or at least two weeks prior to attending your orientation session.
